Township Led Life Skills Workshops Strengthen Teen Mental Health
The Peer Led Life Skills program is making strides in the community. We partnered this year with District 99 for Operation Snowball and Westmont High School’s Take Care Day. Both programs advocate for teen mental health. The partnerships were a great success! Misty Boyd, our Prevention and Life Skills Coordinator created a workshop that students and staff attended. The Vision Board workshop focused on shifting the perspective of self-image, building self-esteem, and goal setting. Under the leadership of Misty, students and staff were equipped with skills to help them journey through life’s challenges more self-affirmed, resilient, and with a deeper understanding of self worth. The feedback was unanimous, one student said “I was extremely inspired by the vision board workshop” and another stated “Your workshop was the best.” We can not be more proud of our initiative to combat teen issues while promoting positive mental health. Misty Boyd quotes “With a vision there is purpose, intentionality, and hope for a bright future.”
