Although it was a very dreary misty day at the Westmont Fire Department on South Cass, the weather didn’t prevent 37 seniors from bringing 39 cars to the multi-point vehicle inspection and Car Fit safety check on September 29th.

Car Care Clinic 2019

Yes… some seniors brought more than one car!!! This the 7th year that the Car Care Clinic, hosted by Westmont Fire Department and run by the Senior Advisory Committee for DG Township, has provided residents with a FREE opportunity to get a multi-point inspection for their vehicles. Mechanics representing Firestone, Kubis Auto Body and Gus’s Auto Repair provided valuable advice on what might be needed for their cars. Sheriff’s Department Explorers and their leaders checked tires and filled them with air.  AARP provided experienced, as well as newly trained, Car Tech volunteers who checked all lights, seatbelts, mirror/seat positioning while asking relevant questions of each driver. EMA’s & Fire Department volunteers guided traffic, while PACE, AAA, Westmont Park District, The Community House, Clemen’s Enterprises and Downers Grove Township offered information about senior programming and activities around the area. Additionally, Dunkin Donuts (Ogden Downers Grove) and Great American Bagel provided some delicious treats while other merchants provided raffle prize coupons
