According to the FBI, Property and Mortgage Fraud is the fastest growing white-color crime. It can be as simple as someone recording a fraudulent document in the County Land Records offices making it look like they now own your home or property. To address these concerns, a notification service has been created that will help you combat the effect of land fraud and other similar fraudulent activities.
To combat the effects of land fraud and other similar fraudulent activities, you can sign up to be notified when a document is recorded with your name match. The DuPage County Recorder of Deeds suggests that you log on: www.propertyfraudalert.com. You will select DuPage County where you will enter your personal and/or business name. Or call 1-800-728-3858 to subscribe free of charge.
