Cancer treatment can lead to a variety of physical side effects that may make normal daily activities difficult. Physical therapy may help relieve many of these conditions. A discussion about the importance of physical therapy during and following cancer treatment is presented on the Vintage Times, a local cable television program for older persons.

“Cancer and its treatment can cause debilitating side effects for patients, compromising their function and quality of life. Fortunately, research has shown that physical therapy during and after cancer treatment can help speed functional recovery, boost immune response, reduce fatigue and risk of complications” explains Andrew Nowak, Supervisor of Outpatient Physical Medicine at the Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
