Downers Grove Township will hold a dedication ceremony for the newly built Township Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4341 Saratoga Ave., Downers Grove.  The dedication will take place on March 19th at 10am.

The project is a Township multi-purpose Senior Center featuring the Downers Grove FISH Food and Clothing Pantry.  Work began in June of last year and cost $2,367,932 to complete.

Township Supervisor Mark Thoman: “This is just the beginning of a new era of Downers Grove Township services. The Township Center brings several nonprofits much closer with better visibility to the clients they serve. We provide a multiplier for their mission and for the benefits they provide. They allow us to operate much more cost efficiently for the services we provide, much more so than any government agency could. Townships in DuPage County are adapting and offering needed services. Staying lean and relevant, working with nonprofits gives us added muscle to feed the hungry, help those in need, and keep our senior citizens active and involved in their communities.”

Downers Grove Township funded this project out of a Capital Projects Fund, saving up the money ahead of time. No borrowing, no debt was required for the project. Downers Grove Township will be rolling out programming as the state allows us to open up and return to normal for group meetings, meals, and activities. Stay tuned!
