The Peer Led Life Skills Program is a program and process that promotes positive social behaviors and substance abuse prevention by presenting a once a month curriculum focusing on 7th and 8th grade students located in the Township middle schools.
This unique leadership program promotes the importance of peer mentorship in the classroom while developing healthy coping strategies for stress and conflict management with additional focus on social media safety, developing healthy relationships and the prevention of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.
Our Mission Statement
We seek to promote positive social behaviors and establish relationships with the seventh and eighth grade students at our assigned middle school through a once per month, core life skills program for seventh grade students and a five times per year booster curricula for eight grade students as well as an after school program.
The Peer Led Life Skills Program’s intent is to develop a curriculum that is specific to participating public and private Township middle schools that addresses the needs of their students. Please click our letter for more information.
High School Student Application Information
We seek high school students from Downers Grove North, Downers Grove South, Hinsdale Central, Hinsdale South, and Westmont High School who are interested in becoming teachers and promoting healthy life choices. This is a great program for students looking to mentor younger students by providing positive messages and build their community service hours.
PEER LED TEACHER APPLICATION (Due: Wednesday, May 1st, 2019):
The applications are reviewed and only those deemed ready for the program are accepted. Those who are selected must complete an interview session, attend a day of training, attend their pre-teach meetings before scheduled teaching day, complete their assigned teaching days and sign a Code of Conduct.
