Friends for Downers Grove Township Seniors, (a fundraising organization for Downers Grove Township) recently received a direct grant award from the Timken Foundation of Canton, a company with local roots in the community via Lovejoy, a local manufacturing subsidiary located in Downers Grove.

The generous grant is being used to outfit the Downers Grove Township Center. The grant will provide funding for quality presentation and activity equipment, and other essentials, including: a Public Address audio system, large LCD ‚ÄúSmart” TV system, tables, chairs, professional window shade treatments, a professional coffee making system, secure storage containers, and furniture for a conversation corner/ gathering area.

The new center will be actively hosting community events throughout the day, and frequent special events that will be timely and topical for the Township senior population.

FFDGTS has been able to provide a grand tot al of $32,600 for the Center in a very challenging year, due in large part to the partnership of Timken Foundation of Canton in our community.

There will be a formal ribbon cutting ceremony at 10am on the 19th of March at the new Township facility 4341 Saratoga Avenue in Downers Grove with limited in person attendance and a live stream capture of the event.
