Typically, DG Township sprays when WNV carriers are detected. Presently the local area threat level of disease vector species is low. However, heavy rains have delayed the first major non-disease-carrying “biter blooms”, and clearing weather this weekend and next week has left large amounts of standing water, breeding ground for nuisance broods. We urge residents to check their property for standing water and promptly drain or empty any they may find.

The Township contracts with Clarke Environmental Management and sprays a biologic specifically designed to kill mosquito species. It’s sprayed at night to further remove any danger to humans or beneficial insect species such as bees.

While not needed, some residents may feel more comfortable closing their windows Wednesday night.
