The Downers Grove Township seeks a Life Skills Teacher for their Youth Services department. This is a school year, part-time position. The Life Skills program began in 1981 as a way to enrich the Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum of the elementary schools within our township boundaries. We now serve more than 25 area schools, teaching students from 4th to 8th grade such topics as empathy, self-esteem, stress management, executive functioning, and effective goal setting.

The role of the Life Skills Teacher involves creating, updating, and preparing materials for various SEL lessons, traveling to area schools to teach SEL lessons, and communicating and building relationships with local teachers, administrators, and community leaders.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Illinois teaching licensure or certification (preferred, not required)
  • At least 2 years of experience in teaching/child care
  • Reliable transportation

Interested candidates should email a cover letter and resume to Paul Coultrap paul.coultrap@dgtownship.com or call 630-719-6611.
