Tuesday, November 13th at 1:00pm at Tivoli Theater in Downtown Downers Grove.

Calling all WWII Vets, ANY Vets, their families, friends, neighbors and the general public!!! Here’s a great opportunity to see the true story of 5 brothers who served together on the same ship during WWII. Their story and ship are a part of our enduring history. The movie “Saving Private Ryan,” starring Tom Hanks, is also based on their story.

For the first time in years, the 1944 movie “The Fighting Sullivans” will be shown on the big screen! It will be hosted by the Tivoli Theater, Classic Cinemas on the day after Veteran’s Day- Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 1:00 pm. Tickets are only $5 each! Those in attendance will also have a chance to win a gift basket by purchasing raffle tickets. ALL proceeds go toward the funding and support of township senior programs, transportation and activities.

The Township Senior Advisory Committee, Friends for Downers Grove Township Seniors and township officials and staff are proud to promote this nostalgic story to our local community. We want to honor our seniors and the many veterans who have served our country proudly in their youth, and continue to serve in their local communities throughout their lifetimes.

In addition to the movie itself, Hal Burke, President of Victory and Valor Memories, LLC., will be presenting some historical background on the ship and related events including the kissing sailor in Times Square, New York City on VE Day in 1944. There will be a brief Q & A after that.

To SEE and HEAR more, you MUST ATTEND this rare event. Please come out to honor our veterans! One of our own Senior Advisory Committee members and WWII veteran will be in attendance, Floyd Mizener, recently honored by the township for his unflagging volunteerism and community service!
