Emergency Programs
"File of Life" is an Emergency Medical card, which lists a person's vital medical information to assist police and medical personnel in an emergency. Information includes a list of medications, medical conditions and persons to contact in an emergency. One card is placed magnetically on the refrigerator and a smaller card is carried in a purse or wallet. The card accompanies the person to the hospital. Available for $1.00 at the Township office, please call (630) 968-5029.

Emergency Response Systems
911 Phones are given free to senior citizens. Phones are programmed to dial 911, but cannot make or receive other outside calls. Provided by the Sheriff's office at (630) 407-2319. Or you may contact the Downers Grove Police Department at (630) 434-5600, Sgt. Joe Karmia.

R911 Guardian Program is a computerized telephone calling system used by the Sheriff's office to check on the well being of older persons. Call (630) 407-2400, for more information.

"Lifeline" is a device, which enables you to push a button on a bracelet or a necklace that you wear. This activates the telephone to dial an emergency number, summoning help. Monthly rent plus activation fee. Call (800) 959-6989. Other companies offer similar services, please contact the Township for more information.
Long Term Care
Choices for Care provides a free consultation to nursing home applicants to explore options for long term such as nursing home placement, supportive living facilities, assistive living, in-home services, community care program and Home Delivered Meals. A comprehensive assessment helps identify needs. Call DuPage County Senior Citizens Services at (800) 942-9412.

Long Term Care Ombudsman is a liaison that helps to resolve complaints regarding care of a resident at a long term care facility. Call DuPage County Senior Citizens Services at (800) 942-9412.
