As I watched the “last” flakes of snow float past my window, I thought about spring and what that means to our community. The robins are already out in full force hardly noticing the snowfall as they look for something good to eat. After such a tough winter, it’s nice to see people getting out and about again on the nicer days. Spring is traditionally a time for renewal. This is a good time to think about our families, and safety for our children in the community. The better we are informed as parents, the better we can guide and model behavior for our children.

As a prevention specialist for the township, I am always looking for the latest research on alcohol, tobacco and other drugs (ATOD). My current focus is on marijuana. I have been sharing up-to-date information with the school, residents and families I work with over the past few months and I will continue sharing information about marijuana on our website over the coming months as well.
