Support for grandparents who raise their grandchildren is discussed on the Vintage Times, a local cable television program for older persons.
Grandparents who raise their grandchildren experience both the joys and the challenges of this special relationship. “While grandparents can experience a great sense of satisfaction in providing a secure and loving environment for their grandchildren, they may also experience a variety of challenges in coping with their new role. It is helpful to join a support group where grandparents share information, ideas and strategies to help them cope with the impact of this role on their health, emotional well-being, finances and family”, says Angela Bentsen, program supervisor at Metropolitan Family Services DuPage.
