Medicare Open Enrollment is October 15th – December 7th, 2015. This is a good time to review co-pays, premiums, deductibles and medication tiers within your Part D plan. Or, switch to another plan that is better suited to your current needs.

You do not have to change your plan but it is recommended to check if another plan may be beneficial for you. Consider changes in your physical health, such as new medical conditions or a change in the medications you take.

Medicare plans do change. The costs of your plan can go up or down. Prescription drugs can be added or dropped from the list of drugs (the formulary) included in your plan. Some Medicare plans change the benefits they offer or stop offering coverage in a particular location.

You can compare the plans available in our area, and enroll in a new plan by visiting Medicare.gov or calling 800-MEDICARE (800-633-4227). Another option for information and enrolling is to call the plan of your choice or visit their website.

If you need assistance in deciding what Medicare plan to choose, you can receive free counseling from volunteers who are trained by the Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP). For a referral to a counselor please call DuPage County Senior Services 1-630-407-6500 or 1-800-942-9412.
